Assembly fixtures are typically manual or semi-automated and are well suited for single piece flow manufacturing. They are typically stand alone stations which take a table top form factor.
Construction is usually a base plate or other simple structure and includes custom tooling and an actuator which will perform the work. The operator will place the product(s) in a custom nest and will actuate the machine cycle via a footswitch or two palm switch input which will then initiate a sequence.
Safety guarding and mutiple step sequencing is accomplished by either simple timer relays or a low I/O count PLC control. Upon completion of the cycle, the processed product is released so that the operator can remove it and repeat the cycle on the next part.
